Hi, I'm Brittany (she/her/ella)! I am a birthworker and reproductive justice advocate, a doula and student midwife. I am a people lover and nurturer, a solo dance party-er, an esoteric explorer, and many other things, with a deep passion for reproductive health and advocacy. In a country that continues removing the rights of individual bodily autonomy, I believe all people should have access to doulas and trauma-informed care, and this work is truly my calling. We all deserve to feel safe: emotionally, physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I am here to ensure that with compassionate care and unwavering support throughout their reproductive journey, every family feels centered in all of their uniqueness. My goal is to be a trusted, safe space for all birthing people and to help amplify their personal power.
My philosophy is rooted in the belief that birth is a portal, and I aim to come to it with humility. I believe my role is to hold this space sacred for each family's journey to unfold. I see all birth as a rite of passage, whether a baby is born in the tub, a family desires all the medication the hospital can offer, or a baby chooses to be born by cesarean.
My belief system is that birth is not a medical emergency, but rather a normal event that we all venture through to arrive earthside, one that demands all parts of ourselves: an equally mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical experience. I meet every family where they are on their journey, and I aim to be the grounding voice and hand that helps them return to their center and maintain a coping mindset throughout labor and all its uncertainties.
My philosophy is built on a deep trust in physiologic childbirth, traditional care, reproductive justice, and informed consent. I believe we should be questioning why our country has the highest rate of maternal mortality of all developed countries, one that continues to rise, even as our maternal healthcare system remains a $111 billion industry with the most advanced technologies available. I believe revolutionizing the system that perpetuates harm starts with bridging the miracle of modern medicine with truly seeing each patient as an individual and treating them as such. Every family's wants and desires for bringing new life into this world should be revered with respect, and shifting that into the norm of our reality, especially at birth, is the foundation of a new world I would like to see exist.
Overall, my goal is to support every family throughout all variations of their ideal, and ultimately real, birth, leading with courage and confidence so they stay empowered and safe in any setting.
