Hi, I'm Curtrelle, your Doula and Lactation Educator! I'm an adventurer, fitness and wellness enthusiast, foodie, and intermediate snowboarder, as well as a Registered Nurse of 10+ years with a deep passion for service and for maternal and public health equity. Empowering you and your family as you navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is truly my calling.
I'm a proud graduate of the best HBCU in the land, THE Prairie View A&M University! After earning my Bachelor's in Nursing and practicing for a while, I served as a Maternal and Child Health Volunteer in Rwanda with the United States Peace Corps. That experience, alongside the ongoing Black Maternal Health Crisis in America, gave oxygen to my fire for health equity and justice.
My "why" is simple: we deserve better. Birthing people, especially Black, Indigenous, POC, and LGBTQ+ birthing people, deserve better outcomes. As a health equity and justice advocate, I believe in safe, sacred, collaborative, and informed birthing experiences for ALL birthing people, whether inside or outside of the hospital.
My love of service has taken me to many countries and immersed me in many cultures. Whether I'm alongside my sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., a community-based organization, or my fellow doula sisters, you can always find me in community.
My mission is to empower you and your family as you navigate pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, and to make sure your birth and postpartum plans are clearly understood and communicated every step of the way.
My method is to provide wrap-around, holistic, and evidence-based support and education. As a Registered Nurse and a health equity advocate, I believe deeply in holistic, collaborative, informed care. I want you fully informed, so you feel empowered to make the best possible decisions for yourself and your baby. I believe in safe, sacred, collaborative birthing experiences for ALL birthing people, whether inside or outside of the hospital.
Overall, my goal is for you to feel informed, empowered, and supported, wrapped in care that honors your voice, your choices, and the birth experience you deserve.
