Hi, I’m Desiree Williams.
I’m an African American mother of four, born and raised in Los Angeles. My journey into birth work is deeply personal.
Throughout my own pregnancies, I experienced what so many women—especially Black and Brown women—face in the healthcare system. I felt unheard. My concerns were dismissed. There were moments where I felt scared, unsupported, and unsafe during one of the most vulnerable times in my life.
Those experiences stayed with me.
Working in a hospital setting for four years, I began to see that my experience wasn’t unique. I witnessed the same patterns of mistreatment toward women in Black and Brown communities—patients not being listened to, voices overlooked, and care that lacked compassion and respect. Being the only African American in that space and seeing it firsthand was heartbreaking.
That’s when I realized my purpose was deeper than just providing care.
I knew I was called to advocate.
Now, as a birth doula, I am committed to making sure you never feel alone, unheard, or unsupported in your journey. I provide guidance, education, and advocacy so you can walk into your birth experience feeling confident, respected, and in control.
Because you deserve to be heard.
You deserve to feel safe.
And you deserve support that truly stands beside you.
If you are looking for support that sees you, hears you, and stands with you—not just during labor, but throughout your entire journey—I would be honored to walk alongside you. You don’t have to navigate this alone. Let’s make sure your voice is protected, your choices are respected, and your birth experience feels safe, supported, and truly yours.
