Jaeden Howard

Full Spectrum Doula

About Me

Hi there! Thanks for dropping by :) My name is Jaeden and I’m a Black full spectrum doula which means I’m able to support your family through preconception and fertility treatments, the entirety of your pregnancy and birth journey (regardless of delivery method), and through the postpartum period up to a year after your baby’s birth. I am an aspiring nursing and midwifery student, and I view my doula work as the foundation of the care I’ll come to provide in the future. I am also a fairly new doula, and I base the care I provide on three main pillars; informed consent, trauma-informed care, and empathy for all human experiences. Outside of doula work I’ve spent time working in middle schools and elder care facilities and I myself have 7 younger siblings. I truly feel as though all of my life experiences have led me to the path of being a doula, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to be able to serve your family.

In my personal life I emphasize movement and my own bodymindspirit connection. I also try to incorporate holistic care into my daily routine as much as possible. While I do not push my personal beliefs on clients, I do encourage the families I work with to consider how interconnected every aspect of our lives are. What we eat, drink, do, the people we see and how we process information impact us each day. This, in turn, will impact your baby and your family as a whole. Throughout the prenatal, birth, and postpartum journey I’ll aim to help you connect to your body and your baby.

Practice Philosophy

A little about my visit structure. I aim to have at least three postpartum appointments with each client where we (1) discuss your knowledge and feelings about pregnancy and birth in general, as well as your birth preferences, (2) create a plan for what postpartum support will look like for your family, and (3) work through movements that will help prepare your body for birth and practice laboring positions. Of course each family has different needs and I’m happy to do more or less prenatal appointments as needed.

Throughout your labor my focus is you having a birth experience as closely aligned with your preferences as possible, and helping keep you grounded in the moment. Birth can be scary. It is also one of the most intimate moments you’ll share with your support people and child, and my goal is to help birthing people have birthing experiences that leave them feeling empowered.

My focus in postpartum visits is helping the birthing person reconnect with their body and facilitate space to bond with their newborn. Postpartum support looks different for each family too, but some things I’ve found helpful with clients is taking care of household duties (cleaning, cooking, laundry), helping care for older children so that you have time to spend with your newborn, or caring for your newborn so that you have time to take care of yourself.

While I am new to doula work, I do see myself doing birth work for the rest of my life, and I am honored to be considered as your doula! Before any billing starts, I always offer a 20-30 minute free consultation so we can discuss what your desires are in a doula, and if we’d be a good fit for support. Feel free to send me a message! Come with your questions, come with your doubts! We can navigate them all together.
