Hi, I'm Karina! For over a decade, I've walked alongside families through their most tender and transformative seasons, specializing in the sacred threshold of birth and the first days with a newborn. My work as a doula centers on creating a space where you feel held, supported, and at ease as you transition into parenthood; this work is truly my calling.
With a background in Early Head Start and complex care coordination, I balance deep emotional presence with the thoughtful organization required to protect your peace. Whether you're navigating labor or the delicate rhythms of a growing home, I offer a steady, grounding presence, ensuring things run smoothly so you can remain fully present with your new baby.
My practice is bilingual (English/Spanish), CPR-certified, and informed by ongoing graduate training in social work. My experience in prison birthwork and harm reduction ensures a justice-rooted, nonjudgmental lens for every family. Based in Hawthorne, I serve the South Bay, Long Beach, Norwalk, Cudahy, South Los Angeles, and surrounding areas, with care rooted in Alma, Raíces y Apapacho (soul, roots, and tender affection).
My philosophy is anchored in the belief that birth and early parenthood are sacred thresholds, deserving to be protected with intention and deep respect. I approach every family with a heart centered on Alma, Raíces y Apapacho: soul, roots, and a tender embrace of the soul.
Alma, or soul, reflects my belief that birth and postpartum work is soul work. I show up with my whole heart to nurture your emotional and spiritual well-being, offering a nonjudgmental, steady presence that honors the raw and vulnerable nature of this transition.
Raíces, or roots, keeps my care firmly grounded in your identity, culture, and lived experience. I bring a justice-oriented, trauma-informed lens into the home, reclaiming birth as a cultural ceremony and ensuring your family feels rooted in its own heritage and strength. And Apapacho, to embrace and soothe the soul, is the deep, nurturing care I offer beyond practical tasks: a calm, restorative environment where you are physically supported, emotionally held, and empowered to trust your instincts as you bond with your new baby.
By balancing professional expertise with this soulful, rooted approach, my goal is to lighten your load, so you can move through this season feeling truly seen, cared for, and whole.
