Hola! My name is Karina!
For over a decade I have walked alongside families through their most tender and transformative seasons. My work as a doula is centered on creating a space where you feel genuinely held, supported, and at ease as you step into parenthood. With a background in Early Head Start, complex care coordination, and graduate training in social work, I bring both deep emotional presence and thoughtful, grounded organization to every family I serve. I believe birth and postpartum care should feel calm, culturally responsive, and rooted in trust, and I show up as a steady presence to make sure it does.
My philosophy of care is anchored in three guiding values: Alma, Raíces y Apapacho. Alma, or soul, means I approach this work as sacred, showing up with my whole heart to nurture your emotional and spiritual well-being through every raw and vulnerable moment of this transition. Raíces, or roots, means my care is firmly grounded in your identity, culture, and lived experience, honoring birth as a cultural ceremony and ensuring your family feels connected to its own unique heritage and strength. And Apapacho, to embrace and soothe the soul, means I go beyond practical support to create a warm, restorative environment where you feel physically cared for, emotionally held, and empowered to trust your own instincts as you bond with your new baby.
My practice is bilingual in English and Spanish, CPR certified, and informed by a justice-rooted, nonjudgmental lens shaped by my experience in prison birthwork and harm reduction. I am committed to ensuring every family, regardless of background or circumstance, receives care that is equitable, compassionate, and deeply respectful. Based in Hawthorne, I serve the South Bay, Long Beach, Norwalk, Cudahy, South Los Angeles, and surrounding areas.
Whether you are navigating labor, the delicate rhythms of early postpartum life, or simply need someone to lighten your load so you can remain fully present with your new baby, I would be honored to support you. I welcome the opportunity to connect and explore how my care can help your family move through this powerful season feeling truly seen, cared for, and whole.
