Hi, my name is Karla. I am a Los Angeles–based doula, somatic therapist, and yoga teacher offering both evidence-based and holistic birth support. I integrate current research in physiological birth, informed consent, and trauma-aware care with embodied practices that nurture the nervous system and honor the emotional and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and postpartum.

Karla Evangelista is a Los Angeles–based doula, somatic therapist, and yoga teacher offering evidence-based and holistic birth support. Supporting families through the sacred rite of passage that is birth is truly her calling.
She integrates current research in physiological birth, informed consent, and trauma-aware care with embodied practices that nurture the nervous system and honor the emotional and spiritual dimensions of pregnancy and postpartum. With training in Waldorf education and ancient ritual practices, Karla weaves restorative yoga, breathwork, massage, and energy healing into her work with families. Her approach is both grounded and intuitive, supporting informed decision-making while creating a calm, safe space where mothers feel seen, heard, and empowered.
As a mother and former surrogate, Karla brings lived experience, compassion, and deep respect for the profound transformation that birth is. She is devoted to helping women trust their bodies, access their inner strength, and move through pregnancy, labor, and postpartum with confidence and grace.
My philosophy is rooted in the understanding that birth is both a physiological process and a profound rite of passage. Prenatally, I focus on education, nervous system regulation, and building trust—providing evidence-based information so families can make informed decisions, while also supporting the emotional and somatic preparation for birth. Through conversation, gentle practices, and body awareness, we cultivate confidence and clarity together.
During birth, my approach is calm, grounded, and attuned. I support physiological labor whenever possible, advocate for informed consent, and help create an environment where the birthing person feels safe, respected, and empowered, integrating practical tools like positioning, breath, and comfort measures with intuitive presence and emotional steadiness. In the postpartum period, I believe in slowing down: I prioritize rest, nourishment, integration, and protecting the mother–baby bond, offering hands-on support, space to process the birth experience, and guidance that blends research-based care with holistic practices.
Overall, I approach this work with reverence. I intend to support families in feeling informed, held, and deeply connected to their own inner wisdom.
