About Me

Hi, I'm Maria! I was born and raised in Costa Rica, where I grew up deeply connected to the land and the plants that surrounded me. This connection was nurtured by my mama and abuela, who spent their days tending the earth, working with herbs, and caring for children. From an early age, I learned that the land holds both wisdom and medicine, and that babies and children are cared for and nurtured by the whole community.

I am an intuitive doula and herbalist who weaves together ritual, tradition, ancestral wisdom, modern practices, and evidence-based knowledge into my perinatal, birth, and postpartum care. I am deeply passionate about childbirth and maternal care, and I believe strongly in women's empowerment, preventative health, and the importance of nourishing traditions. I carry a deep love for my Latinx heritage and culture and am committed to honoring and advocating for people of all backgrounds, colors, and nations, and this work is truly my calling.

As a mother myself, I have experienced firsthand the beauty, transformation, and challenges that can come with pregnancy, birth, and motherhood. These experiences have deepened my desire to provide culturally responsive care, education, information, and compassionate support to families as they navigate this transformative journey.

My work is rooted in the belief that every family deserves to feel seen, heard, respected, and supported, and that traditional wisdom and modern knowledge can come together to create a more holistic and empowered experience of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. My goal is to walk alongside every family with the same rootedness, warmth, and reverence passed down to me by my own mama and abuela.

Mi enfoque es tradicional e intuitivo, inspirado en la sabiduría ancestral, las tradiciones culturales, el conocimiento de las plantas y el poder de la medicina herbal. Integro prácticas tradicionales, las recetas de la abuela y enfoques modernos de cuidado y acompañamiento para preparar, nutrir, sostener y cuidar a la persona gestante, al bebé y a la familia en su totalidad.
También brindo sostén emocional durante el proceso de parto y en la etapa posparto, creando un espacio donde puedas sentirte cuidada, acompañada y empoderada.
Mi intención es ayudarte a priorizarte, sentirte sostenida y acompañada durante este proceso transformador y empoderar tu experiencia de nacimiento y maternidad.

My philosophy as Mujer Tierra is rooted in culture, tradition, and ancestral wisdom. My approach is traditional and intuitive, drawing from ancestral knowledge, cultural traditions, the wisdom of plants, and the healing power of herbal medicine. I incorporate time-honored practices, grandmother's recipes, and modern approaches to prepare, nourish, support, and care for the pregnant person, baby, and family as a whole.

I also offer emotional support throughout the birth process and during the postpartum period, creating a space where every family can feel cared for, supported, and empowered. Overall, my goal is to help every family prioritize themselves, feel held and accompanied throughout this transformative journey, and feel truly empowered in their experience of birth and motherhood.
