Hi, my name is Tamara, a full-spectrum doula serving families throughout San Diego County. I am a mother, grandmother, certified birth and postpartum doula, and a Spinning Babies® Certified Birth Professional. Supporting families during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum is truly an honor, and my goal is to help every birthing person and their support team feel informed, supported, and confident throughout their journey. My approach focuses on education, preparation, and compassionate support.
Beginning in the third trimester-or whenever support is needed- guide families through what to expect during labor, birth, and the postpartum period using an evidence-based, balanced perspective that explores both the pros and cons of common choices and interventions. I believe that when families are well informed, they can approach their birth experience with clarity and confidence.
A key part of my work is helping families navigate medical conversations. I support clients in learning how to ask thoughtful questions in medical settings so they can gather the information they need to make informed decisions. Together, we also review common medical terms and options they may encounter, helping them feel prepared and empowered. I assist families in creating initial birth preferences and postpartum plans so they have a clear vision for their care and support after baby arrives.
Physical comfort and preparation are also important parts of the journey. I guide clients through prenatal exercises, restful positioning, and the Spinning Babies® Three Balances techniques when appropriate, always considering any medical conditions or individual needs. In addition to hands-on support and education, I connect families with trusted community resources such as IBCLCs (lactation consultants), pelvic floor therapists, and postpartum mental health providers. My goal is to ensure that every family has a strong network of care. Above all, I want families to move through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum with confidence, knowing they are supported, informed, and never alone. I am honored to walk alongside you every step of the way.
Doulas offer continuous physical, emotional, and informational support. I don’t have a philosophy about your body, your baby or your birth. My method is to support the birthing person’s choices rather than promoting a specific birthing philosophy.
Relationship first - learn about you, your goals, wishes, and fears. Build trust together so I can provide you with the best care possible.
Evidence-based guidance - provide families with the information they will need to understand their choices, prepare for and feel confident approaching the third trimester, labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum.
Customized care plans - prenatal care plans will be crafted individually depending on the birthing person and their individual circumstances, such as high-risk pregnancies, emergent deliveries, TOLAC, multiple pregnancies, surrogates, IVF, cesarean, first-time pregnancies, home or hospital births. Finally, your individual birth preferences, postpartum plan, and local resource guide will be completed together.
Unwavering support - I will be there to support, encourage, educate, advocate, and be by your side every step of the way.
