Hi, I'm Trish! I'm a full-spectrum doula, a former Neonatal ICU nurse of eleven years, and a companion for all who are crossing thresholds of life, loss, and identity. My work lives in the space where transformation happens, and I walk with birthing persons through whatever their journey asks of them. As a nurse, I attended deliveries for five of my eleven years and otherwise cared for the most vulnerable population, including premature babies, those born with genetic differences, infections, those requiring surgical interventions, and those who experienced medical emergencies during their journey Earthside. The interactions I had with these families fully guided me toward the way of being present in that sacred space, and this work is truly my calling.
Following my beloved nursing career, I have worked privately supporting families beyond the NICU, worked briefly with hospice, and intimately navigated my own journey with grief. I am a graduate of the SBCC Community Based Doula Certification Program and the Anam Cara Death Doula Certification Program. Now, as a full spectrum doula, I bring my nursing history while providing non-medical emotional, educational, and self-empowering intuitive support for prenatal, birth, postpartum, and end-of-life journeys. I specialize in high-risk pregnancy support, families welcoming a rainbow baby, and postpartum care for NICU birthing persons, and it is my honor, in memory of the legacy of my many NICU angels, to serve individuals during end-of-life journeys.
On a personal note, my NICU babies taught me legacy, holding space, being a witness, and how to navigate grief. In honor of one of my NICU babies, I proudly work with the Sedona Butterfly Effect nonprofit to support children with cerebral palsy, and I helped launch their Kaleidoscope project, serving pediatric souls navigating end-of-life journeys. I am also a proud member of the Beyond the Veil Doula Collective. My biggest honor to date remains being a mother to my twins, Ashlyn and Adryan, and my daughter, Aurora. Birth, death, and children have taught me everything I know. My goal is to walk alongside every family I serve with presence, honor, and unwavering support, whatever their journey holds.
My philosophy is rooted in offering individualized prenatal, birth, and postpartum support plans that promote self-awareness, self-empowerment, connection to one's own intuition, and education, with partner and sibling involvement as needed. During prenatal sessions, we build rapport and prepare for labor and birth together, covering essential education on anatomy, hospital procedures, and crafting personalized birthing preferences. We also explore pain reduction techniques, including positioning and breathing strategies, all while maintaining flexibility to adapt to any changes encountered during this transformative time.
During active labor, I offer intuitive and empowering support in the setting of the family's choice, with a medical provider present, gently facilitating regulation, self-advocacy in alignment with birth preferences, and connection to one's own innate power. This support extends to the space surrounding both a scheduled or unplanned cesarean birth. My time as a NICU nurse showed me how common the unpredictability of this special event can be, and I am prepared to offer support using positioning, motion, sensory experiences, and neuro-regulation techniques.
Postpartum support is just as individualized, beginning with support during the golden hour following birth and including feeding support, self-care promotion, respite, and emotional integration. Across every phase of this journey, I aim to mirror and promote self-awareness, self-empowerment, and connection to one's own intuition, while providing research-based education throughout.
Overall, my goal is to walk alongside every family with presence, flexibility, and unwavering support, meeting them exactly where they are at each stage of their journey.
